Egodi Terms of Service
Effective August 22, 2026 · Applies to the Egodi application and coaching service
These terms are the agreement between you and Egodi (“Egodi,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don’t, don’t use Egodi. Questions about anything here: support@egodi.app.
Egodi is coaching, not financial advice
Egodi is not a licensed financial advisor, investment adviser, broker-dealer, accountant, or tax professional, and nothing Egodi says is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Egodi is an educational budgeting and coaching tool. It reads the transactions you connect, computes a budget from them, and sends messages meant to make one good decision easier. The messages are drafted by an AI language model working from figures your accounts produced; the dollar amounts themselves are computed by Egodi’s own code, and Egodi checks every message before it sends, dropping any that quotes a figure her code did not compute.
Every financial decision you make is yours. Egodi does not know your full circumstances - debts we can’t see, income we can’t see, obligations, dependents, health, or plans - and it will sometimes be wrong. Before any decision that matters, consult a qualified professional. Do not rely on Egodi for tax filings, investment allocation, debt restructuring, insurance, or legal questions.
Egodi never moves money
Egodi has read-only access to the accounts you connect. It cannot transfer, withdraw, pay, invest, or move your money, and it will never ask you to send money anywhere. Bank connections are made through Plaid; your bank credentials are entered in Plaid’s interface and Egodi never sees or stores them. You can disconnect any bank, or delete your account entirely, from Settings at any time.
Who can use Egodi
You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Egodi is currently invite-only and available in the United States. You may use Egodi only for your own household’s finances, and you may connect only accounts you are authorized to connect.
Your account and your household
You sign in with your own password and an authenticator app; each household member has their own login and nobody shares passwords. Keep your password and recovery codes safe - anyone holding them can reach your household’s financial picture. Tell us at support@egodi.app if you think someone else has access.
Egodi is designed for households: members of a household share one budget and one coaching conversation, which means the other members of your household can see the individual transactions your connected accounts produce - merchant, date, and amount - not just a summary. Add only people you intend to share that with. Any member can leave at any time, and the household owner can remove a member; either way the leaving member’s bank connections are revoked and the transactions those connections provided are deleted.
Text messages
Coaching is delivered by SMS to the number you provide, after you explicitly consent during setup. Because the texts are the product rather than marketing, consenting to them is how you receive coaching at all - you can still sign in and use the budget screens without a number, you simply won’t be coached. Egodi sends at most one coaching message a day (the program is registered with carriers for up to 4 a day, and Egodi may occasionally send an account or safety notice). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to cancel or HELP for help - these are handled by your carrier and Twilio, so a STOP takes effect even though Egodi may not learn of it immediately; text START to resume. You can also pause and resume your own texts in Settings, which affects only you. During the invite-only alpha, live texting is enabled household by household, so there may be a gap between consenting and hearing from Egodi.
In a household of two or more people, Egodi’s messages go to a single group text thread that everyone is part of, so a reply is seen by the whole household rather than only by Egodi. Pausing your texts removes you from that thread until you resume.
What Egodi can and cannot promise
Egodi is early software offered as-is, without warranties of any kind. In particular:
- Bank data lags and is sometimes wrong. Transactions can arrive late, be miscategorized by the data provider, or be missing. A budget or message built on incomplete data can be off.
- Connections break. Banks change their systems and connections expire; Egodi may stop seeing an account until you reconnect it.
- Messages may be delayed or undelivered. Carriers, not Egodi, control SMS delivery. Never treat the absence of a message as information.
- The service may change or be unavailable. Egodi is in active development and features may change or be withdrawn.
Because of this, Egodi is not a system of record. Your bank, not Egodi, is the authority on your balances and transactions.
To the extent the law allows, Egodi disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Some states do not allow these exclusions, in which case they may not apply to you.
Cost
Egodi is free during the invite-only alpha. If we introduce a subscription, we will say so clearly in advance and you will never be charged without agreeing first. Egodi does not sell your data and has no plan to make money that way; see the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Egodi to break the law, connect accounts that aren’t yours to connect, attack or probe the service, scrape it, resell it, or attempt to extract other households’ data. We may suspend or close an account that does.
Ending it
You can delete your own account from Settings at any time, and the household owner can delete the whole household - which deletes every member’s account with it. Deletion is immediate: your bank connections are revoked at Plaid in the same request, not queued. If you are the only member of your household, deleting your account means deleting the household. We may suspend or terminate accounts for the reasons above, or discontinue the service, with notice where practical. Provisions that should survive termination (disclaimers, limits on liability) do.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Egodi is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for financial losses arising from decisions you make - including decisions influenced by Egodi’s coaching, its categorization of your spending, or data that turned out to be incomplete or wrong. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Egodi in the prior twelve months or $100. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ownership
Egodi owns the service, its software, and its name and marks; nothing here transfers them to you. Your financial data and the budgets you create remain yours - Egodi holds them to operate the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. You grant Egodi only the permission needed to run the service for your household.
Electronic communications
You agree that Egodi may communicate with you electronically - by email at the address on your account and by text at the number you provide - and that those communications satisfy any legal requirement that they be in writing.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here and announced to enrolled users before they take effect. Continuing to use Egodi after that means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located there. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections your local law gives you.
The rest
If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing something isn’t a waiver of it. You may not transfer your account or these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to a successor that takes over the service. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. These terms, plus the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Egodi.
Contact
Egodi is currently operated by an independent sole proprietor, not an incorporated company, and can be reached at support@egodi.app - a person reads it. If Egodi later operates through a company, these terms will be updated to name it. See also the Privacy Policy and About Egodi.
