About Egodi
A financial coach for households · Invite-only alpha · support@egodi.app
Most money tools are dashboards. They show you what you already did, in charts you have to remember to open, and they assume the problem is that you lack information. Usually it isn’t. The problem is that the moment a decision gets made - the second round, the third delivery of the week, the upgrade you didn’t plan - is not the moment you are looking at a chart.
Egodi is built for that moment instead. She reads your household’s real spending, builds a budget from it with you, and then texts - rarely, specifically, and about one thing at a time. No app to remember to open. No streaks to maintain.
How it works
- Connect your accounts. Bank connections run through Plaid, the same service most finance apps use. Your bank sign-in happens in Plaid’s window - Egodi never sees or stores your credentials - and access is read-only. Egodi cannot move money.
- Approve a budget built from your real spending. Egodi drafts categories from about 90 days of your actual transactions, with the evidence attached to each one, and you adjust anything before approving. Nothing is set in stone afterward either.
- Get coached by text. Egodi checks in at the time your household picks, and only when there is something worth saying. Every dollar figure in every message is computed by code from your own data.
Built for households, not individuals
Money is rarely a solo problem. Egodi coaches the whole household in one shared conversation, so everyone sees the same picture and nobody has to be the one who brings it up. Each person gets their own login and their own authenticator - you never share passwords - and each person consents to their own texts, pauses them independently, and can leave at any time.
What Egodi will not do
- Move your money. Access is read-only, always.
- Sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to anyone - and Egodi has no plan to make money that way. See the Privacy Policy for every service provider that touches your data and why.
- Invent numbers. The AI writes the words; Egodi’s code computes the arithmetic, and every message is checked before it sends - one quoting a figure the code didn’t compute is dropped rather than delivered. A model that could make up your grocery total would be a model you could not trust about anything.
- Shame you. The research is clear that guilt produces avoidance, not change. Egodi never leads with what you did wrong, and hard news always arrives with the small step that answers it.
- Nag. A quiet day is a fine reason to stay silent. Rare and worth reading beats frequent and ignored.
How Egodi measures whether it works
Coaching products usually claim results without evidence. Egodi is built so that claim will eventually be checkable: every coaching message is recorded with what it was about and which category it targeted, and every change you make to a drafted budget is recorded too. Pace is judged against your household’s own budget and your own month, never against strangers.
Being straight about where that stands: the telemetry is running, but the harder measurement - comparing coached periods against deliberately uncoached ones, so improvement can be attributed rather than assumed - is designed and not yet built. Until it is, Egodi makes no claim about how much it helps. If it turns out not to, we would rather find out.
Security and privacy
Every account requires a password and an authenticator app; the financial screens refuse a session that hasn’t passed that second factor. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Bank credentials never reach Egodi at all. You can disconnect a bank, exclude a single account from the budget, pause your texts, or delete everything - immediately, yourself, from Settings. The full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Where Egodi is today
Egodi is an invite-only alpha, free while it is. It is early software: bank feeds lag, categories are sometimes wrong, and Egodi is sometimes wrong. It is a coaching tool and not a licensed financial advisor - the Terms of Service say exactly what that means. If you want in, join the waitlist; invites go out in small batches.
